Congresswoman Bush Selected to Serve on High-Profile House Oversight & Accountability Committee
Committee conducts oversight of federal government, agencies, and private corporations
Washington D.C. (Jan. 26, 2022) — Congresswoman Cori Bush (MO-01) was selected to serve on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee in the 118th Congress. This Committee is responsible for conducting oversight into private corporations, the federal government and its agencies. This will be Congresswoman Bush’s second term on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.
“I look forward to once again serving on the House Oversight & Accountability Committee this Congress and am particularly proud to be under the distinguished leadership of Ranking Member Raskin. This committee is responsible for the unique congressional role of exercising oversight over corporations and the federal government. Given the importance of Congressional oversight to our democracy, I'm extremely concerned to see the newest far-right extremist MAGA members, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Scott Perry, and Paul Gosar, seated alongside me. These are members who have made their names on promoting election disinformation, championing climate denialism, pushing harmful conspiracy theories, spewing xenophobic rhetoric — not to mention their cozy relationships with white supremacists. These members represent the very antithesis of the intention behind this committee. If we cannot trust them to hold themselves accountable, how can we expect them to uphold accountability for others? I will not allow the self-interests of these MAGA Republicans to erode the integrity of our oversight work. For the people of St. Louis and of this country, I look forward to continuing to hold harmful agencies, polluting corporations, and corrupt politicians accountable.”
In the 118th Congress, James Comer (KY-01) will serve as Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and Jamie Raskin (MD-08) will serve as Ranking Member. Additional members on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability include Democratic Representatives Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC), Stephen Lynch (MA-07), Gerald Connolly (VA-11), Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08), Ro Khanna (CA-17), Kweisi Mfume (MD-07), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), Katie Porter (CA-47), Shontel Brown (OH-11), Jimmy Gomez (CA-34), Melanie Stansbury (NM-01), Robert Garcia (CA-42), Maxwell Frost (FL-10), Becca Balint (VT), Summer Lee (PA-12), Greg Casar (TX-35), Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), Daniel Goldman (NY-10), and Jared Moskowitz (FL-23), and Republican Representatives Jim Jordan (OH-04), Mike Turner (OH-10), Paul Gosar (AZ-09), Virginia Foxx (NC-05), Glenn Grothman (WI-06), Gary Palmer (AL-06), Clay Higgins (LA-03), Andy Biggs (AZ-05), Nancy Mace (SC-01), Jake LaTurner (KS-02), Pat Fallon (TX-04), Bryon Donalds (FL-19), Pete Sessions (TX-17), Kelly Armstrong (ND), Scott Perry (PA-10), William Timmons (SC-04), Tim Burchett (TN-02), Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14), Lisa McClain (MI-09), Lauren Boebert (CO-03), Russell Fry (SC-07), Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13), Chuck Edwards (NC-11), and Eric Burlison (MO-07).
