Service Academy Nominations
Thank you for your interest in a nomination from Congresswoman Cori Bush to a U.S. Service Academy. The nomination selection process consists of several steps, including the completion of Missouri's First District's nomination application packet and an interview.
In choosing nominees, we will consider the following:

Academics: Official transcript, grade point average, SAT and ACT scores and class rank must be provided for consideration

Leadership Experience and Ability: Applicants must complete the nomination application form, indicating information on extra-curricular activities. Examples can include work, church, school government, and youth or civic organizations.

Motivation and Writing Skills: To gauge each applicant's motivation and goals behind attending an Academy, an essay of 300 words must be submitted on the topic of "Why I want to attend the (name) Academy."

Letters of Recommendation: A minimum of three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your high school Guidance Counselor or Principal, must be included in your application packet.

Residency: Candidates must live in Missouri's First Congressional District.
Optional: Candidates are encouraged to attach a list of honors, awards, activities, achievements, resume, photograph or any other information you feel is pertinent to your application.
Following the submission of all required materials, applicants will then be selected to participate in an interview with members of the Congresswoman’s team. Interviews will take place in December.
All required application materials musts be submitted by October 31st. Incomplete applications will not be considered for nomination.

Email a copy of the application nomination packet and all additional materials to bushacademynominations@mail.house.gov.
NOTE: If you have not already done so, you should open a pre-candidate file with the service academies that you desire to attend. We encourage you to apply to all of the Service Academies that you are interested in. Failure to contact the Service Academies and becoming an official candidate will automatically disqualify you for an official interview with my office. Applying to the Service Academy and applying for a nomination are processes that need to be accomplished at the same time. To obtain catalogs and other specific information on the academies, please contact them directly.Please visit the service academy websites to learn more about their programs and admission guidelines.
