Congresswoman Bush Statement on FAA Reauthorization Vote

Washington, D.C. (July 20, 2023) — Congresswoman Cori Bush (MO-01) released the following statement after voting against the House FAA Reauthorization bill.

One of our most important duties as lawmakers is to ensure safe, functional and equitable transportation systems, and that includes air travel. I strongly support reauthorizing funding for the Federal Aviation Administration and many of the provisions in the House package, including historic funding for airport infrastructure projects that would support much needed improvements to our St. Louis Lambert International Airport. However, I could not in good conscience vote for legislation that undermines our workers. I urge my colleagues to remove the provision hastily increasing the retirement age for pilots during the conference process.
