Congresswoman Cori Bush Announces Community Project Funding Application Process for 1st District
ST. LOUIS, MO – Today, Congresswoman Cori Bush (MO-01) announced her office is now accepting applications for Community Project Funding as part of the Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations process. Non-profit organizations and state and local governments can submit applications to fund shovel-ready projects that have strong community support.
Each Member of Congress is limited to ten Community Project Funding requests. These projects will be publicly disclosed once they are selected. All project requests for Missouri’s First District must be submitted no later than Wednesday, April 14.
“This Congress, we have taken steps to ensure much needed resources can be delivered to our districts to support local projects with demonstrated community support and engagement. These grants will fund local projects aimed at strengthening St. Louis and improving the lives of every person in Missouri’s First District—starting with those who have the least,” said Congresswoman Cori Bush. “We are committed to making sure this process is transparent and we will prioritize projects that are rooted in equity and provide resources to entities that have historically been underserved and underfunded. These resources are long overdue. At a time when our communities are suffering through the public health and economic crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, this funding is crucial to our mission of ensuring the people of St. Louis are not just surviving, but thriving.”
Each applicant must complete and submit an application form that is associated with their corresponding project. These forms can be found on the Congresswoman’s website.
The House Appropriations Committee has set the following minimum requirements for Community Project Funding submissions:
- Project requests may only be made by non-profit organizations or governmental entities; for-profit entities are not eligible
- Each project must be for fiscal year 2022 funds only, and not for multi-year funding
- Proof of community support, which includes but is not limited to:
- Letters of support from elected community leaders
- Press articles highlighting the need for the requested community project funding
- Support from newspaper editorial boards
- Projects listed in state intended use plans, community development plans, or other publicly available planning documents
- Resolutions passed by city councils or boards
- Other compelling evidence of community support
- Some Community Project Funding initiatives may require a state or local match, consistent with statutory or other federal program requirements
- Additional requirements and information may be required (guidance is provided in depth for each grant program in the application materials)
For more information on programmatic and language Appropriations requests for Fiscal Year 2022, such as requests to fund an existing federal program or department, please visit the Appropriations Request page. The deadline for those submissions is also Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
