WATCH: Ahead of Veterans Day, anti-war veterans call for ceasefire in Gaza and Israel
Washington, D.C. (Nov. 9, 2023) — Ahead of Veterans Day, Representatives Cori Bush (MO-01), Delia Ramirez (IL-03), and Summer Lee (PA-12) joined anti-war veterans in a press conference calling for a ceasefire in Israel and Gaza. The veterans who participated in this press conference were affiliated with About Face, a group of anti-war service members and veterans. Find a full list of the speakers and their biographies HERE.
“As people who have been directly involved in wars, as people who have witnessed the horrors of conflict, and as people who bear the physical and emotional scars that war leaves in its wake – [veterans’] perspective on a ceasefire is incredibly valuable,” said Congresswoman Bush in her remarks. “Veterans know the true cost of war, the lives lost, the families shattered, and the communities scarred.”

On October 16, Congresswomen Bush, Ramirez, and Lee, alongside Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (MI-12) and Congressman Andre Carson (IN-07), introduced the Ceasefire Now Resolution urging the Biden Administration to call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Israel and occupied Palestine, promptly send humanitarian assistance to Gaza, and save as many lives as possible. Currently, this resolution has a total of 18 co-sponsors.
